Areca / Palm Leaf Tableware
Areca Leaf Bowls
Areca leaf bowls — also sold as palm leaf bowls — are single-piece foodservice bowls pressed at 200°C from one naturally fallen Areca catechu leaf, with no adhesives, coatings or additives. Ecodyne manufactures the full bowl range from 2.5-inch ramekins to 7-inch serving bowls in deep and shallow profiles.

Areca leaf and palm leaf — the same product family
“Areca leaf bowls” and “palm leaf bowls” are co-equal names for one product — pressed from a single naturally fallen Areca catechu leaf. For the palm-leaf-named range, see our palm leaf bowls page; for how the two terms relate, they describe the same single-material product with no difference in material or process.
Two product lines (Classic Line and Standard Line) in deep and shallow profiles.

How areca leaf bowls are made — and how we prove it
Every plate and bowl is one pressed leaf, made in eight stages: collect naturally fallen areca leaves, grade, wash, soak, heat-press at 200°C, dry at 60°C for 24 hours, UV-sterilise, then inspect and pallet. No chemicals, dyes, glues or additives are used at any stage.

Frequently asked questions
What are areca leaf bowls?
Areca leaf bowls are single-piece foodservice bowls pressed at 200°C from one naturally fallen areca-palm (Areca catechu) leaf, with no adhesives, coatings or additives. They are also sold as palm leaf bowls — the same product, co-equal name.
What are areca leaf bowls made of?
100% naturally fallen areca palm leaves (Areca catechu), collected from 216,000 hectares of cultivation in Karnataka, India. No adhesives, plastic liners, PFAS, dyes or coatings — the leaf is washed, soaked, pressed at 200°C, dried at 60°C for 24 hours, UV-sanitised and packed.
Are areca leaf bowls leak-proof and suitable for hot food?
Areca leaf bowls hold liquids and hot food well because they are a single dense pressed leaf with no seams. They tolerate hot service and brief oven or microwave reheating. For fully liquid soups over long hold times, the deep-profile bowls are recommended.
Can I order areca leaf plates and bowls together?
Yes. Ecodyne manufactures the full areca range — plates, bowls, platters, trays and compartment plates — so plates and bowls ship together in a single mixed container, factory-direct from India.
Are areca leaf bowls compostable?
Yes — areca leaf bowls are a natural single-material product that breaks down in home and industrial composting, with no plastic or PFAS. EN 13432 certification is in progress; documentation is available to qualified buyers on request.
What sizes of areca leaf bowls does the manufacturer make?
From 2.5-inch ramekins through 3-inch dip bowls, 4-5-inch dessert and soup bowls, to 6-7-inch salad and serving bowls, in deep and shallow profiles across the Classic and Standard lines.
Sourcing note: “areca leaf” and “palm leaf” name the same product — see areca vs palm leaf plates for the full disambiguation.
