What does “EN 13432 tested and passed” mean for a buyer?

EN 13432 is the European standard for packaging that can be recovered through composting and biodegradation. Its reference was published in the EU Official Journal under the Packaging Directive in 2001. A product passes when a lab has tested it against the standard’s criteria and found that it meets them.

Our plates have been tested and passed. That is what we say, and it is what you should say on your own packaging. A test result and a certification mark from a certifying body are different things, and a careful retail buyer will ask which one you hold. Ask any supplier for the full lab report, with the lab name and the date, not a one-page summary.

What is the difference between biodegradable and compostable plates?

Biodegradable means microbes break the material down. On its own the word sets no time limit and no conditions. Compostable is narrower: the material has been tested against a named standard such as EN 13432 and met its limits under composting conditions.

What certificates and compliance documents can an importer get?

Certificates and reports are issued to Conservia Partners for the Ecodyne Tableware brand. If you sell the plates under your own label, our reports show the product conforms, but your market may expect tests in your brand’s name. Our certifications page lists what we hold.

Can importers get samples before a bulk order?

Yes. Samples from our standing range are free, and you pay only the courier cost. Tell us which sizes you plan to sell and we will send those, in both rim lines where both exist.

Use the samples properly. Serve hot and wet food on them, leave a portion of curry on a plate for half an hour, try the microwave for 3 to 4 minutes, and check the carton. A sample that sits in a drawer tells you nothing.

What is the minimum wholesale order, and how fast is it loaded?

One 20ft container for the Ecodyne Tableware brand, or one 40ft high cube for white label. You can mix sizes and shapes inside it, with at least 200 cartons per product category. A 40ft high cube takes 300,000 to 350,000 pieces in a normal mix.

We load within 10 days of the confirmed order and deposit, FOB New Mangalore Port. If we are late, we pay a 1% penalty for every day. Payment is 70% deposit and 30% against documents, by TT; we accept letters of credit only on orders above USD 50,000.

Freight, duty and inland costs come on top, and they vary by port, so work out a landed cost before you compare with a local supplier. How do I check a biodegradable plate supplier before I order?

Ask for the full lab reports, not summaries, and check the dates on every certificate. Ask for monthly capacity in pieces; ours is about 4.5 million a month. Ask for a video walk through the production unit. Ask whether the loading date is written into the contract with a penalty if it is missed.

Then order samples and test them yourself. If a supplier cannot send a test report within a day of being asked, I would not order from them. The paperwork exists or it does not.
