CITEO
CITEO is the French extended-producer-responsibility scheme for household packaging and graphic paper. It performs the equivalent function to Germany’s LUCID. Importers selling consumer-facing packaging into France must register with CITEO and pay eco-contribution fees scaled by packaging weight, material, and recyclability.
In B2B context
CITEO is the eco-contribution gatekeeper for any party placing consumer-facing packaging on the French market. Established in 2017 as the merger of Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio, CITEO operates France’s collective EPR scheme under Loi AGEC and the previous packaging EPR framework. Eco-contribution fees are scaled by packaging weight, material category (paper/cardboard/plastic/glass/metal), and recyclability scoring — recyclable packaging pays lower fees than non-recyclable.
For Ecodyne customers selling palm leaf plates with branded retail packaging in France, CITEO registration is the importer’s responsibility. Ecodyne packaging design (typically corrugated cardboard outer with food-grade kraft inner) scores favourably under the recyclability matrix, lowering the importer’s annual eco-contribution. Loi AGEC additionally requires Triman recyclability labelling on French consumer-facing packaging from January 2022 — Ecodyne can supply Triman-compliant artwork on request.

External References & Industry Standards
This reference page on CITEO compiles authoritative sources used by B2B procurement teams in Germany, France, the UK, and the Nordics. The CITEO framework intersects with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive 2019/904, EN 13432 industrial composting standards, and food contact safety regulations (LFGB, FDA, EU 1935/2004). Buyers evaluating CITEO typically request third-party verification, supplier audits, and accredited lab documentation. Ecodyne Tableware maintains this CITEO reference alongside its 17-year B2B export practice across 18 markets, helping sourcing teams compare offers and verify CITEO compliance.
