LUCID register
LUCID register is the mandatory German central packaging register operated by Stiftung Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR). All producers and importers placing packaging on the German market must register and report quantities. The LUCID number must appear on consumer-facing packaging where applicable. Operates under Verpackungsgesetz §9.
In B2B context
LUCID is the operational backbone of Germany’s packaging EPR system. Any party placing branded or consumer-facing packaging on the German market — whether a domestic producer, an importer acting as private-label brand owner, or an e-commerce shipper of consumer goods — must register a LUCID number before the first market placement. The number is reported alongside annual packaging volumes (by weight, by material category) to the ZSVR.
For Ecodyne customers selling palm leaf plates as a branded retail product in Germany, the LUCID requirement falls on the importer/brand owner, not on Ecodyne in the standard FOB India transaction. However, when packaging is supplied as part of an Ecodyne private-label arrangement, importers should confirm their LUCID registration is active before the goods clear customs. Ecodyne packaging design supports German market specifications including LUCID number printing and dual-system compatibility.
