ISO 14001:2015
ISO 14001:2015 is the international standard for environmental management systems. It certifies that the manufacturer operates a documented environmental management framework covering energy, water, waste, and emissions. Increasingly required by EU retail private-label and ESG-led HoReCa procurement programmes. Audited on the same three-year cycle as ISO 9001.
In B2B context
ESG-driven private-label brands and large EU retailers increasingly request ISO 14001 alongside ISO 9001 as a pair. The standard does not specify performance thresholds — it certifies the manufacturer has a documented environmental management system, defined targets, and audit evidence of improvement. For palm leaf manufacturers, the certification works in combination with verifiable solar-power claims and water-recycling operational data to support ESG narrative claims downstream.
