USDA BioPreferred

USDA BioPreferred is a US Department of Agriculture programme that identifies and labels products derived from renewable biological resources. The label "USDA Certified Biobased Product" requires verified biobased content above category-specific minimums. Palm leaf plates qualify at over 95% biobased content. The label is frequently referenced by US procurement and federal contracting buyers.

In B2B context

For B2B importers selling into the US federal procurement channel, USDA BioPreferred is a soft mandate — many federal solicitations and large institutional buyers preference biobased products carrying the label. Palm leaf plates, being 100% naturally fallen leaf with no synthetic additives, sit at the top of the biobased-content spectrum and qualify without difficulty. The certification is product-level rather than facility-level, and importers can rely on the manufacturer's USDA documentation as evidence in bid responses.
